Google hires former FDA digital health officer to global strategy post

Previous title: Chief digital health officer, Food and Drug Administration

Patel announced in a LinkedIn post he is leaving the FDA after more than a decade for a post with Google. 

In his new role, Patel said he will help Google build a digital health and regulatory strategy.

“The power of technology, when coupled with a unified digital health and regulatory approach, promises to transform people’s lives,” Patel said in the post. 

Google confirmed the hire and said he will report to Linda Peters, vice president of quality, regulatory and safety at Google Health.
